"what have you done to make yourself feel proud?"
When we look at questions like this we tend to think too big; our actions don’t have to be world-changing to invoke pride in our lives, but it can be the small things that we forget that can have such impact on our lives and the lives of those close to us.
Completing a day in which we spend 10 quality minutes with our children and I mean quality – no phones, no computer, no TV – actual time when they are the centre of the world. It can be as small as completing a puzzle with them; what a simple thing, but what joy it can bring to you and them.
It’s looking back at a day in which you have truly stuck to everything in your health and fitness plan including nutrition, exercise, incidental activity and even resisted the temptation of that second glass of wine.
We should be proud of the little things and not underestimate the difference they can make in our lives. We are very quick to label ourselves failures when things don’t go just quite right but are not great at congratulating ourselves and celebrating the victories.
A great way to start our day, to ensure we fill our day with these little victories, is challenging ourselves to this little quote:
“Today I am going to beat the me of yesterday” – Gary Bertwistle
